About Adult MHFA (Workplace MHFA)

Also known as 'Workplace MHFA', this course is for adults to be able to support other adults within their organisation. There are many reasons that MHFA is necessary in the workplace:

  • At any one time one worker in six will be experiencing depression, anxiety or issues relating to stress (Centre for Mental Health, 2010)
  • Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year (Centre for Mental Health, 2017)
  • Stress, anxiety and depression are the biggest cause of sickness absence in our society (Health and Safety Executive, 2017)
  • Work-related stress alone accounted for 45% of all working days lost to ill health in 2015/16 (Health and Safety Executive, 2017)
  • 76% of line managers believe they are responsible for employee wellbeing, but only 22% have received training (BITC, Mental Health at Work Report , 2016)

By training your staff in Workplace MHFA you can:

  • Equip them with the knowledge and tools to keep themselves healthy
  • Give them the confidence to spot signs of mental ill-health in others and take action to support them
  • Increase the likelihood they will seek professional help if they are feeling mentally unhealthy
  • Reduce the stigma around mental health and encourage more open conversations about mental health in your workplace

There are three options for courses:

  • Adult Mental Health First Aid - 2 Day course
  •  Adult Mental Health Champion - 1 Day course
  • Adult Mental Health Aware - Half Day course
